ฝึกทักษะการอ่าน วรรณคดีอังกฤษ Twentieth-Century Novels

 ดิฉันได้อ่านหนังสือเกี่ยวกับวรรณคดีอังกฤษ โดยบทที่ดิฉันอ่านนั้นชื่อว่า Twentieth-Century Novels โดยจะมีนักแต่งนิยายในศตวรรษที่ 20 จำนวน 11 คน  โดยมีชื่อว่า E.M. Forster , H.G. well, Somerset Mangham, D.H.Lawraence, James joyce, William golding, George orwell, Arthur c. clark, Jopeph Conrad, Robert Louis Stevenson, Thomas hardy. ซึ่งนักแต่งนึงนิยายทั้ง 11 คนนรี้ จะมีลักษณะของการเขียนนวนิยายที่แตกต่างกันจนทำให้เกิดงานเขียนนวนิยายที่น่าสนใจมาให้อ่านจนน่าประทับใจจนถึงปัจจุบัน ซึ่งศตวรรษที่ 20 นี้จะเป็นรูปแบบการเขียนที่มีรูปแบบของการสะท้อนสภาพสังคมแบบใหม่ที่เกิดขึ้นหลังจากช่วงสงครามโลก

E.M. Forster takes a completely different view of the values which formed and governed british society at that time and on  whioh the british empire was based. E.M. Forster จะมีความแตกต่างทางด้านมุมมอง แต่จะให้ความสนใจในความรู้สึกส่วนตัว, วัฒนธรรมจิตวิญญาณ โดย E.M. Forster จะแต่งเรื่อง Howard’s End เรื่องนี้จะเป็นความแตกต่างทางด้านความเชื่อของครอบครัว โดย Foster’s theme is how to connest the everyday ‘outer’ life of the wilcoxes with the innor life of the heart and spirit represented by the Schlegels. โดยลักษณะเด่นของ  Fonster คือ ชีวิตภายนอกและชีวิตของาภายในจิตใจ

Forstrt’s theme, here as well, is the importance of bringing togerher opposites (in societies, different people and within one oharacter) to make a complete and healthy, มีความหมายว่าลักษณะของการเขียนของ Forater คือ จะเอาความสำคัญของความแตกต่าง (สังคม, คนแตกต่าง, และตัวละครที่สมบูรณ์ ตัวละคร 1 ตัว นั้นจะมีความแตกต่างกันในตัวเองโดยแต่งเรื่อง A Passage to India โดยจะมีเรื่องย่อว่า Adela ,an Englishwoman who has gone to hdians, but is led to believe that one of them attaks her sexusally on a visit to come caves. When she accused him and later takes back the accusation’ she causes the separation in beliefs, behavior and attitudes of the English from the Indians to become cven strong er and more violent โดยเรื่องย่อนี้มีอยู่ว่า Adela เป็นผู้หญิงชาวอังกฤษผู้ซึ่งจะเดินทางไปอินเดียเพื่อแต่งงบานกับคนรัก ผู้หญิงคนนี้มอบความจริงใจให้กับทุกคนในประเทศอินเดีย แต่เธอจีนถูกชาวอินเดียข่มขื่นทำให้คนอังกฤษมองคนอินเดียไม่ดี

H.G.Wrlls also took characters from a lower social level , but many of his characters are given a chance of happiness จะมีลักษณะของตัวละครที่ต่ำ แต่มีความหลากหลายของตัวละครที่มีโอกาสของความสุข โดย H.G.wells จะมีชื่อนวนิยายว่า The War of the worlds descrives an attack on his this world by man from Mars, who can conquer everything but man’s diseases. โดยมีเรื่องย่อว่า จะเป็นเรื่องที่เกิดขึ้นในสงครามโลกแต่มีเรื่องของมนุษย์ดาวอังคารซึ่งจะชนะทุกอย่างบนโลก ยกเว้นความละเมิบของมนุษย์ซึ่งเรื่องต่อไปนี้คือเรื่อง The first Men on the moon (1901) show men flying to the moon about seventy years before this actually happened โดยมีเรื่องย่อสรุปความได้ว่าเรื่องนี้จะเป็นเรื่องที่แสดงถึงผู้ชายทิ่บินไปเหยียบดวงจันทร์ ก่อน 10 ปี ก่อนนี้ที่เรื่องนี้เกิดขึ้นจริง

Somerset Maugham’s first novel, Lisa of Lambeth gave a realistic picture of slum life and the novel based on his oen life, of Human Bondage (1915) showed the hardship and difficulty of his own early life มีความหมายโดยสรุปใจความได้ว่า นวนิยายเรื่องแรกของ Somerset Maugham คือ Lisa of Lambeth จะเป็นนวนิยายที่มองเห็นภาพในเรื่องของชีวิตที่น่าสงสารโดยจะใช้การเขียนเรื่องราวชีวิตของตนเองเป็นพื้นฐาน อีกเรื่องนึงคือเรื่อง Of human Bondaqe (1915) โชว์ความลำบากและความยากลำเค็ญของชีวิตของเขาโดยสรุปลักษณะการเขียนของ Maugham ได้ดังนี้ว่า Maugham is a sharp observer of people, and is amused by them, but does not want to get closely involved with them. He wants to tell good stories rather than to explore character deeply, and stories often have a bitter of un expected ending. โดยสรุปได้ว่า Maughom จะเป็นนักสังเกตการณ์ที่เฉียบคม เน้นเรื่องราว, เนื้อหา, ตัวละครไม่ซับซ้อนและส่วนมากเรื่องนวนิยายเรื่องนี้จะเป็นเรื่องมักจะมีตอนแบบข่มขื่นหรือจนแบบไม่คาดฝัน

D.H.Lawrence’s view of the writer’s purpose was very different : He felt was the novelist’s jobs to show how an individual’s view of his own personality wam often affected by conversation of language โดยสามารถสรุปได้ว่า Lawrence มีการเขียนลักษณะที่แตกต่างโดยมักจะเอาชีวิตของตัวเองมาเขียนในการเขียนภาษาในการสนทนา เขาเขียนนวนิยายเรื่อง Son and lover (1913) is take from his own life เขาน่าชีวิตของเขาเองมาเชียนเรื่องนรี้ The center of  novel is the relationship between Paul Merel need to put the outer and inner world together in a true relation ซึ่งลักษณะตัวละครจะคล้ายกับของ Forster คือ ร่างภายนอกและภายในเข้าด้วยกันในความสัมพันธ์แท้จริง

James joyce worte A Portrait of the Artist as a young man (1916) present Joyce himself as a young man in the charaoter of his hero. Stephen Dedalus, who is formed by the powerful forces of Irish national, political and religious feeling and shows how he gradually to follow his own nature and his own anure and his own. Fate. โดยสรุปได้ว่า joyce เขียนเรื่อง A Portrait of the artist as a young men. โดยเรื่องนี้ จะเป็นการเขียนโดย Stephen dedalus นั้นจะเป็นตัวละครที่คล้ายกับชีวิตของ Joyce ความรู้สึกของศาสนาและการเมืองเขาค่อย ๆ ปลดปล่อยจากอิทธิพลของกองกำลังเหล่านั้นให้เป็นไปตามธรรมชาติและชะตากรรมของเขาเอง มีอีกเรื่องนึกคือเรื่อง Ulysses (1922), Joyce created a completely new style of writing This style is known as ‘interior’ monologue’ of stream of consciousness. เรื่อง Ulyness เป็นเนื้อเรื่องยาวจะเป็นสไตล์การเขียนแนวกระแสสำนึก ซึ่งงานเขียนแบบนี้จะเป็นงานเขียนแบบใหม่ล่าสุดของศตวรรษ

William Gloding wrote Lord of the files (1954), when describes how a group of English school boys. They are divided into two groups those who guard the fire (the deamer and poets) and those who hunt for good (the men of action) and the novel shows how the two froups cannot work together for a good of them all, but attack and try to destroy each other with frightening violence. His novels also consider absolute values of good and avil and the essential nature to man. โดยสามารถสรุปความหมายได้ว่า dolding เขียนนวนิยายเรื่อง Lord of the flies เป็นการเล่าเรื่องถุงกลุ่มนักเรียนรชายที่มี 2 กลุ่ม กลุ่มนึงเป็นนักฝันอีกกลุ่มนึงเป็นผู้กระทำ ซึ่งนวนิยายเรื่องนี้จะแสดงถึง 2 กลุ่มที่ไม่สามารถทำงานร่วมกันได้ร้ายความดีทั้งหมด แต่จะเป็นการโจมตีและพยายามทำลายด้วยความรุนแรงกับสู่ความโหดร้าย นวนิยายของเขาจะมีคุณค่าของความดีและความชั่วร้ายและนี่คือความจริงของมนุษย์

วันที่  17/10/58 ดิฉันได้อ่านเรื่องวรรณคดีอังกฤษต่อจากเมื่อวานโดยสามารถสรุปประเด็นความรู้ที่ได้ดังต่อไปนี้ โดยเริ่มจาก George orwell worote political and critical writing. Nineteen Eighty Four (1949) describes a future wotld where every word an acfion is seen and controlled by state, which has developed a kind of television that can watxh people in their own homes, ซึ่งสามารถสรุปความได้ว่า orwel เขียนเกี่ยวกับงานวิจารณ์การเมือง ซึ่งจะเขียนเรื่อง Nineteen Eighty Four เขียนในปี 1949 จะอธิบายได่ว่า  โลกอนาคตซึ่งถูกค่าที่แสดงออกมาและถูกควบคุมโดยรัฐ, ซึ่งมีการพัฒนา ซึ่งประชาชนรับชมได้ที่บ้าน และมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงภาษาอีกเรื่องนึกของ Orwell คือ Animal Farm (1945) tells the story of a political revolution that went wrong. The animals on a farm, led by the pigs, drive out their master Jones and take control of the farm, but the purity of their political  ideas is soon destroyed, and they farmes whom they drove ovt ซึ่งจะมีความหมายโดยสรุปสั้น ๆ คือผู้นำมักจะเป็นผู้กอบโดยผลประโยชน์ตจ่าง ๆ คือหากใครได้เป็นผู้นำคนนั้นมักจะมีความเห็นแก่ตัว

นวนิยายเชิงวิทยาศาสตร์สามารถอธิบายข้อความโดยสรุปได้ว่าการพัฒนาวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี โดยจะมีหลักสำคัญ 3 ประการ ดังนี้  1. The  dander to man and the possibility of destryctuition if present scientific of technological developments are carried futher สามารถสรุปได้ว่า ความอันตรายที่มีมนยุษย์และความเป็นไปได้ของการทำลาย ถ้าหากการพัฒนาทางด้านวิทย์, เทคโนโลยีที่ก้าวหน้าไปจะมีผลกระทบต่อมนุษย์ 2. what may happen after man has defeated the problems of war, disease and poverty-that man may be able to go beyond the limits of the human body and gain some of the qualities of machines สามารถสรุปได้ว่า สิ่งที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นของโรคและความยากจนของผู้จน ซึ่งมนุษย์นั้นอาจจะสามารถมีข้อจำกัดของร่างกายและการได้รับจากผลิตออกมาแล้วอาจจะควบคุมด้วย 3. Although man may have lost something of nature life on earth (as in second are above), he can explore the world of space สามารถสรุปได้ว่าถึงแม้ว่า ความสูญเสียบางอย่างบางสิ่งในธรรมชาติของโลกใบนี้เขาสามารถสำรวจอวกาศได้

ARTHUR, C. clark has also written much science fiotion, including The city and the stars (1957) A space Odyssey (1968) which takes up the subject of exploration in space. ซึ่งสามารถสรุปความได้ดังนี้ Arthur c. clark จะเป็นนักเขียนที่มีสไตล์การเขียนแนววิทยาศาสตร์ โดยจะแต่งนวนิยายเรื่อง The city and the stars และเรื่อง A space odyssey ซึ่งมีการสำรวจด้านในข้างอวกาศ

Joseph Conrad wrots Lord Jim (1900) one of his greatest novels. He believed that a man must always be faithful to his friends, his fellows and his employers. If there is no faithfulness between man and man, ruin is certain to follow. ซึ่งสามารถสรุปได้ว่า Jospeph conred แต่งนวนิยายเรื่อง Lord Jim เป็นนวนิยายที่ดีที่สุดของเขา เขามีความเชื่อว่า ความซื่อสัตย์ของเพื่อนเขาที่เพื่อนเขามีต่อนายจ้าง ถ้าไม่มีความซื่อสัตย์ต่อความพินาศก็จะตามมาอย่างแน่นอน

Robeart lovis Stevenson. Wte Treasure Island (1883) is an adventure story which is still popular. The strange case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde is exciting novel the reads follows the struggle between two farms. Of the same men – the good Fr…Jekyll. And the evil Mr.Hyde. ซึ่งสามารถสรุปความได้ว่า Robert lovis Stevenson เขียนเรื่อ งTreasure Island เป็นเรื่องแนวผจญภัยที่เป็นที่นิยมจนถึงสมัยนี้ และเรื่อง The Strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde. เป็นนวนิยายแนวสีร้างความตื่นเต้นที่ผู้อ่านติดตามระหว่างความดีของ Fr.Jekyll และความร้ายกาจของ Mr.Hyde.

Thomas hardy write novels nutura plays an important part; indeed nature is herself a character. Heardy’s scenes are set in ‘wessex’ (the country of Dorset) among tree, farm, fields and low hills. Hardy believed that the past has buill up a mass of conditions which remain to intluence people’s live : ซึ่งสามารถสรุปได้ดังนี้ว่า Thomas hardy เขียนนวนิยายแนวรักธรรมชาติมีฉากธรรมชาติที่แท้จริง  ธรรมชาติที่แท้จริงนั่นคือตัวละคร ทางที่ดีของชีวิตคือการรับต่อโชคชะตา  การต่อสู้ดินรนที่โชคชะตาและโอกาส

ดังนั้นสามารถสรุปประเด็นความรู้เกี่ยวกับเรื่อง Twentieth-century novels โดยจะมีนักแต่งนวนิยายในศตวรรษที่ 20 มีจำนวน 11 คน โดยมรชื่อว่า E.M.Lareaence, James joyce, William golding, Somerset Mangham, E.M. Forster, George orwell, Arthur c. clark, Joseph Conrad, Robert Louis Stevenson, Thjomas hardy ซึ่งนักแต่งนวนิยายสมัยนี้นั้นจะเป็นรูปแบบการเขียนที่มีรูปแบบของการสะท้อนภาพสังคมแบบใหม่ที่เกิดขึ้นหลังจากสงครามโลก
